Telekom’s 5G Network Available on Metro Line M2

Telekom has further expanded its 5G coverage in Budapest. After metro line M1, now the system has reached M2 line.

As another step in Telekom‘s network modernization program, the 5G service has already become available for the company’s customers on the M2 metro line, the company announced on Friday morning. The service can be used with a 5G-capable device and with a mobile internet subscription.

According to Telekom announcement in the middle of summer, 5G network will be available to its customers on all Budapest metro lines by the end of 2024. It first launched the 5G service on metroline M1 on July 1, and now the underground coverage has been expanded with M2.

The network coverage of metro lines is a complex and complicated process, partly due to the underground installation and partly due to the limited access, since the construction of the network can only be done outside of working hours, typically during the night. However, it is worth to be patient, since the process will move further on with the other two Budapest Metro Lines, M3 and M4.
